The Best Magazine Ever

The Best Magazine Ever

I just got back from Barnes and Noble.

Yeah, I was checking out the magazine racks for headline ideas again.

Have you been doing that lately?

I noticed that Star Magazine was completely sold out.

There was one People left.

Instead of purchasing gossip rags, I got copies of Entrepreneur and Millionaire Blueprints.

You could tell they were both selling, but not like the celebrity gossip rags.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, should you feel guilty about growing a business that helps people and makes you rich while most everyone else can't wait to read what Angelina, Brad and Paris are doing?

Most people have sub-conscious beliefs that money is evil and rich people are the scum of the earth.

Why?

Because they run out and read Star and People, that's why.

Just food for thought.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,
Jim Labadie

PS- Want a great way to start your morning?

"Hey Jim,

When I'm running my boot camp class I'm always thinking, 'what a great use of my time'. It comes out to about $210 an hour. It's a great way to start your morning!

I am planning on hiring another trainer, or doing two classes next month.

Thanks for your help, and the Ultimate Boot Camp Start-up Kit CD's!"

These people act in spite of it

I haven't showed you this in awhile.

It's one of my favorite things. It should be one of your favorites, too.

Look at it often.

Why?

Because I know from the emails and coaching sessions with fitness pros lately that they aren't living rule #16.

They are thinking TOO much.

Which means they aren't acting enough.

I've done lots of stupid things.

You'll do stupid things.

Do things anyway.

Print this out and read it daily. But today, focus on #16.

PS - Fellow fitness pro and former WNBA star Val Whiting is a believer. Are you?

"Even though I have not mastered the teachings of Jim's Sales Kit and am very rusty, it works. I have messed up , bumbled, fumbled and still have gotten clients!

This system works even better with athletes and actually fits my style of thinking. As a professional athlete, I was extremely dedicated and focused. I expect no less from everyone else. I have made my mind up to train those type of people only. And if they are not with my "game plan" then, they are not a good fit for our program.

Not only has this system help increase our business, but has helped us save time."

The summer of the average trainer

The summer of the average trainer

Summer is coming. It will be here before you know it.

And you know what that means for the average personal trainer.

Yeah, the potential for some sleepless nights due to lack of income.

Clients go on vacation and you go to the poorhouse.

It can be pretty scary, I know. I used to live in that reality.

So knowing full-well it could happen to you again this year, what have you done to prepare?

Have you seriously increased your income and the time you have to spend building your business by running boot camps?

Have you created some passive income streams through fitness information products of your own?

Or perhaps you've studied internet marketing and you're making some good coin by promoting affiliate programs.

What have you done to build you list?

Maybe you'd done the smart thing and become a Prograde trainer. You're already making moolah recommending:

- The whole foods based mulit-nutrient complex, VGF 25+

- Powerful Omega 3's in the form of EFA Icon (which by the way kicks the you know what out of standard fish oils)

- Varsity Post-Workout drink so your clients are making the most of their efforts by getting the research recommended protein to carbs blend critical for optimal results.

Oh, and did I mention that Prograde's auto-ship program means you don't have to worry about inventory.

That's right, once you educate your clients about the benefits of these high-quality nutritional products you don't have to lift a finger.

http://www.getprograde.com/

So, what are you doing about the upcoming summer?

Are you going to be relaxing by the pool knowing your business is running on auto-pilot?

Or will you be sweating it out hoping to be able to pay your rent?

Don't worry, I'll love ya no matter what. ;-)

-Jim

PS- Oh, I forgot to mention, trainers who sell Prograde are covered by our insurance policy when they recommend our products.

PPS- Wait! Shoot! I forgot to add to the revenue stream list the complete Registered Dietitian designed Weight-Management program we provide.

The time is now for...

The time is now for...

..getting some fitness publicity by piggybacking on Mother's Day.

It's pretty simple really. While the national magazines are always working months ahead, there's no reason you can't contact your local TV news stations and let them know you can provide:

- The best gifts to give to Mom to get her in shape fast

- Many daughters and sons look into buying a personal training gift certificate for their mother. Let the media know you can advise them what makes a qualified fitness professional truly qualified.

- What are healthy Mother's Day meals their viewers can prepare?

I'm sure you get the idea.

And don't forget, publicity isn't about trying to land some immediate new clients.

It's about credibility.

It's about becoming THE fitness expert in your community.

It's about opening doors to new opportunities that would have been otherwise closed.

PS- Are YOU a Prograde trainer yet? http://getprograde.com/

"Prograde has taken the pain out of recommending supplements to my clients. Our clients understand the importance of mastering the nutritional basics. One of the biggest barriers our clients face is having the right nutrients at the right time. Prograde has helped us increase our clients performance and has also taken the stress out of nutrient timing.

The best aspect from a business perspective is the sale and distribution of the product. It fits right into our nutritional model and we never have to lift a finger or touch a product. It's shipped priority to our clients directly from the source. There is zero cost for us which is one of the best benefits. Getting paid for making a life changing recommendation. It's a blessing."

Kick Cancer in the Teeth

I'm proud to say that Alwyn Cosgrove is my friend.

I'm happy to say that he's still alive.

The man was diagnosed with Cancer not once, but twice.

And while he will be the first to tell you neither experience was pleasant, Alwyn believes, like I do, that the opportunity to do something positive is always present.

In this case, the opportunity is to raise money for Cancer research.

So Alwyn sought out every leading fitness authority he could to contribute to a book he could sell to donate every single dime to the cause.

Well, the fitness community came through in a BIG way.

How big?

How about 800 pages worth of content BIG.

What I learned in the 2nd grade

What I learned in the 2nd grade

Why did I do it?

I couldn't have just been a polite little boy, could I? Oh no, I had to be a typical 2nd grader.

So I burped in a little girl's ear while we were waiting in line to go back to class.

It was a perfectly good ear and she was just standing there. How could I let a good burp go to waste?

How did I know the whole school would hear about my dastardly behavior?

I never thought in a million years it would become such a scandal!

My second grade teacher told the wicked teacher I had in first grade. So not only did I get berated by one teacher, I got berated by two!

And my older sister, who was in the 5th grade at the time, she even heard about it.

But you know what the absolute worst part of it all was?

Do you know what really got my goat?

The girl who was the victim of my not-so-nice belch wasn't the one who turned me in!

No, it was another girl - a tattle-tale in the mold of the infamous Cindy Brady - that snitched on me.

So why on earth am I telling you this ridiculous story from my childhood?

1) People are ALWAYS watching

2) People are ALWAYS talking

If I got into this much trouble in the 2nd grade for burping, imagine what is happening to your business right now if you've got clients who aren't getting results.

Do I need to remind you already?

1) People are ALWAYS watching

2) People are ALWAYS talking

Now you can complain all you want about it not being your fault.

But does it matter?

Your prospective clients are paying very close attention to the results of your actual clients.

Not only are they watching, they're talking.

Tomorrow night everyone in the fitness industry is going to be talking about the release of Prograde Nutrition.
Ryan Lee and I will be unveiling the project we've been working on since October of 2005.

But only 1000 will be able to view the webinar which it is going to change the fitness industry forever - and over 1200 have registered so far!

They are also going to find out how they can get in on over $600 worth of F R E E bonuses.

Reserve your spot RIGHT NOW to be certain you're one of the 1000 to witness history - and be sure to get on early.

Fight! Pro vs. Amateur

Fight! Pro vs. Amateur

Next Tuesday, April 17th at 8PM EST, Ryan Lee and I will be unveiling the project we've been working on since October of 2005. Reserve your spot RIGHT NOW to be certain you're one of the 1000 to witness history.

http://www.personaltraineru.com/webinar.html
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's check the tale of the tape.
The fitness professional gets paid because they aren't afraid to ask for money.
The amateur whines about having to sell not because they don't like money, but because they really aren't very good at what they do.
The fitness professional turns down nightmare clients who they know are going to be a headache from session one because they're fully aware of the toxic effect they will have on their business.
The amateur takes on anything with legs because they haven't learned better yet.
The fitness professional knows a prospect is someone who MIGHT train with them. They also know a client is someone who pays them money in exchange for their service.
The amateur lets a prospect out of a meeting without paying and never hears from them again. No commitment, no client.
The fitness professional knows sales takes guts.
The amateur hopes and prays their prospect will somehow decide to pay for their service.
No matter where you rank, I still love ya. But I just want you to know for YOUR benefit where you stand.
Yours in prosperity,
Jim Labadie
I'm not coming back
Next Tuesday, April 17th at 8PM EST, Ryan Lee and I will be unveiling the project we've been working on since October of 2005. Reserve your spot RIGHT NOW to be certain you're one of the 1000 to witness history.
http://www.personaltraineru.com/webinar.html
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've written in the past about how terrific my massage therapist is. She really is great.

But amazingly enough, I found someone even better!

And that makes for an uncomfortable situation.

How do I tell the former therapist I'm not coming back?

Well, instead of doing what many people would do and just never call her, or return her calls, I am happy to say I took the moral highground and let her know I was going in a different direction.

It was very uncomfortable to do, but she took it well. Honesty is typically very much appreciated. And in this case it was.

How does this apply to you? Here's how:

- If you expect people to be upfront and honest with you, and that includes your clients and customers, you must be that way with others.

ESPECIALLY, with people you buy things from!

- You may very well run into a prospective client who would like to train with you instead of their current trainer.

If that is the case, one of the things you will need to discuss with them is how they plan on firing their current trainer.

Yes, if you want that person as YOUR new client you need to find that out.

Otherwise, they very well may never leave their current trainer who isn't doing a very good job for them, but they've become emotionally attached to.

Hey, this isn't about poaching business from a fellow fitness pro. It's business.

If you, me or anyone else isn't getting the job done...well, you can kiss that money goodbye. It's the nature of the beast.

Anyway, I highly suggest you discuss such things during your prospecting mode. If you get the feeling this person would LIKE TO switch, but never actually would, then leave it alone.

Some will, some won't, so what? Who's next?!
Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,
Jim Labadie
http://www.howtogetmoreclients.com

PS- Discover how to sell with integrity.

'A lot of people assume that my professional honors make it easier for me to charge higher fees than other trainers.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

I've worked in sales most of my adult life. I've gone through Dale Carnegie Sales Training (twice), read literally dozens of books, listened to weeks worth of cassettes, and even studied NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), but Jim teaches unique, practical and powerfully effective techniques that I had never heard before.

I've just started, but I am supremely confident that the skills Jim taught me in the 'Ultimate Sales Kit' will finally allow me to charge rates commensurate with my experience, expertise and honors - without pain on my part asking for the money nor pain on the client's part paying the money.

Jim helps you earn what you're truly worth.'

Write fitness articles in three easy steps

Write fitness articles in three easy steps

My latest article brought to you by: http://www.jump-experts.com/

~~~~
How to write fitness articles in three easy steps
Writing articles is a great way to market your fitness services. Not only do they promote you to your target market, but because your article has been published you automatically are viewed as a credible expert on the topic. But many fitness professionals don't realize just how easy it is to write short "how-to" articles, so they don't utilize this very effective marketing tool.
Follow these three easy steps to quickly and easily write your own fitness articles:
1- Pick a topic that people are really interested in. Yes, I know that seems mighty obvious. But do you really know the subjects which your prospects want to know about? Have you asked them? Or are you writing about fitness items you think they should be interested in?
So ask your target market what they want to read about. Are they looking for information on how to reduce their blood pressure? Or would they rather learn how to get six-pack abs? Again, this is marketing. Write for your audience definitely wants. Not what you think they want.
2- Use a killer headline. If nobody reads your article what was the point in writing it? The headline is what will draw readers in so it's imperative it really captures their attention.
If you need ideas go to your local newsstand or bookstore and stare at the magazine racks. Copywriters get paid big money to come up with headlines because they sell magazines.
3- Use the magic formula. And in case you're wondering, you're reading a sample of that "magic formula right now. Start with an introductory paragraph that explains the problem you are about to solve. Next you list out the simple step-by-step tips (people love tips, by the way) to follow. Then end your article with your bio and a way for the reader to receive even more FREE information from you.
Oh, and if you like, you can have a closing paragraph or sentence like this one:
Follow these three easy steps and you'll be writing fitness articles like a pro in no time!
Ok. Ok. I'll fess up...
Trainers from all over the world have been bugging me like crazy since my newsletter on Saturday.
And they all want to know the same thing:
What questions do I ask my prospects to DISqualify them?
Well, I'm only going to give you one.
Here's the most powerful question you can ask. If they are serious about getting results you're going to hear some serious emotion in their answer:
"What happens if you don't reach your goals?"
Once upon a time I was helping one of my Ultimate Sales Kit customers.
He had met with a prospect and said it was "like pulling teeth" getting her to talk because she was so guarded.
Well, if you're trying to get someone to tell you the emotional reason they want to hire a trainer it's tough when they have their lips seemingly glued together.
So why does this happen? Why don't prospects want to talk?
I've always found that when this happens it's because they aren't at all serious about doing the work to reach their SUPPOSED goals.
So what can you do about it? The same things I told my customer:
1- Do a better prospecting job and never set the meeting
2- If you are in the middle of one of these meetings simply force the prospect's hand by saying something like, "I'm really uncomfortable saying this, but from experience I can tell you that when people aren't willing to talk to me they aren't really serious about this. So, please tell me, why are we having this conversation?"
3- Or you can be crazy like me and just get up and leave! Believe me, that get's them talking!
This an actual post from the PersonalTrainerU.com forum.
Ryan Lee, Jim Labadie and all of you who post on this site.
On January 1st of 2007 I was living in my car. Last year due to an injury I lost everything - business, finances, home. The only things left over from my training business were my PTU Gold CDs.
New Years was a turning point. I committed myself to my dream and remembered that if I hold to the vision the Universe will provide.
I begged, borrowed and scraped together $$ for a new website and PTU membership (see my priorities!) I contacted old clients whom I had not contacted at all while depressed. Picked up a few locally again - just enough to eat and pay rent to start.
Last week I signed 3 new online corporate clients to annual contracts! That's $89 per month per employee (37 total) plus $75 per hour for on-site work. All from free Lunch & Learn seminars that I offered. Another tip from Jim!
I just went over $3000 per month from my back-end nutritional sales. One of my clients was so impressed with her results that she paid $1100 for 17,000 inserts to go into the local paper promoting my business. She's a self-made millionaire and I would drive to her house with my exhaust duct-taped up to my car. Why did she do this? She told me 'you changed my life but mostly it was your attitude.' I never spoke of anything but success and she told me this inspired her to do better in her life. Her words 'Winners support others dreams and visions.' Wow!
I decided to leverage the exposure. I bought Jim and Phil Lally's Boot Camp CD set (3-4 other trainers in the area have been 'threatening' to do Boot Camps for months - I am now the first!). A couple trainers at the local gym made fun of me for spending $127 for CDs. Let's see... FIRST DAY after listening I found 2 sites, put 3 Boot Camp dates up on my site and got the local TV station to agree to cover the area's first ever 'Beach Body Boot Camps'. One mention in my e-newsletter and the classes are half-filled already. I put them on the newspaper inserts already!
$127 investment. Pretty small to make $88 per person per class and get all the extra exposure. Oh yeah, and leaving the other trainers in the dust... priceless!
Speaking of my newsletter... twice monthly and I am getting ready to go over 1,000 subscribers. Just from promoting a simple free report on 'Setting and Achieving Fitness Goals'. Got that tip here on PTU several times - finally put it to use.
By the end of April or early May I will be living my dream. Over $10,000 per month and doing nothing but online training (getting ready for my big Fitness Generator launch next week - watch out local trainers!), boot camps and back-end sales. My goal is 100 clients monthly. I have the 37 already!
My first e-book is almost done! I no longer take in-home clients. Instead I mentor and train younger trainers who want to change lives. I teach them assessments, sales and provide the clients from my hits on my site. At no charge to them! Instead they simply provide clients my nutritional supplements. I have a friend (two-time national Karate champion) with a struggling Martial Arts studio. I now promote his studio and he promotes me. I am teaching him how to market from what I have learned here. Win-win. Love it! I remember Jim saying at one point that it ain't about the money - it's about the dream. Focus on what you want and the Universe will provide. I want to empower and inspire.
I never would have accomplished anything without listening to Ryan, Jim and so many others. My goal is to be the Barry Lovelace of Western PA!!! My mission is to empower and inspire others to new levels of fitness.
I owe my success to all of you. The posts. The tips. The support. My belief in myself and my mission came just as much from here as anywhere. Thank you. If ever I can help anyone with anything... just contact me!
-Jim
http://www.fitnessinfomistakes.com
PS- This is from http://www.fitnessinfomistakes.com Kevin Gianni. His top three reasons why he loved this product!
1) The format of the program is like having a mastermind group (Ryan Lee and myself) right in front of you. It addresses many of the questions and fears that you might have that would stop you from doing something, gives you the confidence to move forward, and assures you that you can do it.
2) I liked the ideas of "Mistakes" (Which as you say, it's really "Success") because it gave me hope that when I mess things up that the people who are really doing well in the industry have gone through some of the same growing pains.
3) These are two of the best fitness marketing minds on the planet who probably aren't even accepting new clients anymore and you get to listen in to them as they discuss the strategies they used to get there for a fraction of their coaching price tag. It's a no brainer!
Possibly my BEST sales tip ever!
Possibly my BEST sales tip ever!
This may seem short.
It might seem simple.
It may appear downright obivous.
But I'll tell you what...
...if you're not one of my Ultimate Sales Kit customers I'll bet you're not using this top-secret method for never having a prospective client tell you, "I need to think it over" ever again.
In fact, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts people tell you that - and tell you that a lot!
So what is it?
What's the secret strategy to never having to hear those dreaded words ever again?
Tell your prospect when you set your meeting time something like this:
"At the end of our meeting I'm totally cool with whatever decision you come to. If we decide we'd work well together then just give me a yes or no answer. Are you ok with that?"
Powerful. SOOOO powerful.
So thank you Jim, your course made all the difference. I highly recommend your products to anyone wanting to increase their income and quality of life.'
What the heck happened?
Once upon a time I had a consultation with one of my Ultimate Sales Kit customers.
He had just had a meeting with a prospect that went ok, but did not result in a sale.
Here is one the highlights from our conversation. I'm certain they will be of great help to you in your sales approach as well.
When he initially spoke to this woman and set the appointment he was in a rush to get to a meeting.
What did that result in?
Well, he could have done a better job of prospecting and completely disqualified her as someone who would be willing to pay his rates.
In other words, he never should have sat down with this person at all.
What's the lesson?
Don't be so anxious. Remember just how valuable your time really is.
He should have told her he would need at least 5 minutes to talk on the phone so he could fgure out whether or not sense for the two of them to meet in person.
And to make her ok with that he could have said something like, "I would hate to waste YOUR time with a face to face meeting if there wouldn't be a fit."
It's not about him, it's about her and HER time being valuable!
And in the prospect's mind that makes all the difference.
PS- It works for Alwyn Cosgrove:
"It's quite possible I've got more qualifications than anyone else in my field. Seriously, I've got more letters after my name than I have in my name! However, I'm going to let you in on the horrible truth...there is no relationship between being technically good or skilled at what you do and getting paid.
Jim Labadie is THE MASTER and he has solved that problem. The Ultimate Sales Kit for Fitness Professionals is almost as good as having Jim as your own personal sales staff. Within days of listening to the CD's you'll have, at the least, doubled your investment.
BOTTOM LINE: If you don't have this kit in your arsenal, you better pray your competition doesn't. It's that powerful."
It's worth noting that...
It's worth noting that...
..people pay for cures much more readily than they will pay for prevention.
I know some folks who started a business that archives all your important documents. They make inventory of everything you own, so if, God forbid, something happens to your home and you need to replace everything it's much easier to do.
Thing is, the company didn't do very well. In fact, last I heard they were going out of business.
It was a terrific service. But people didn't go for it.
Why?
Because people don't like to pay for prevention. But when they are desperate they will pay just about anything for a cure.
The business they should have started is one that helps you get your life back on track AFTER that disaster happens. People would pay out the nose for their service.
Now I'm not saying you should take advantage of people. Far from it. But I am saying this is business and you sell what the market wants.
How many people come to you and say, "I really want to keep from getting fat?"
Possibly some.
I'm guessing a whole heck of a lot more are already quite overweight by the time they come to you.
Am I wrong?
And since you now know - well, you already knew it, you just needed a reminder -that people will gladly pay for a cure, you should have come to the conclusion that there's a very good chance you aren't charging enough for your services.
Try that one on for size.
PS- By the way, the more you're in the media the more credibilty you have in your prospect's mind. And the more credible you are in their mind the more they are willing to pay for the "cures" you provide.
You are worth what you charge, aren't you?
Get the monkey off your back
I couldn't stand working with this woman. Everytime I even thought about another session with her I got a headache.
One of the best days of my life was when I fired her as a client. It was instant bliss. And I mean it. It wasn't like the proverbial "monkey off my back" kind of happy. I'm talking pure, unadulterated bliss!
When I fired her I was taking that huge leap from working IN my business to working ON my business.
Why had I been training her in the first place?
Because I was of the mindset that I NEEDED the money. Believe me, I know what it's like to be in a tough spot financially. I assure you, I've been there.
But when you are working with a person who is robbing you of your passion and making you miserable...well, you just don't need that person's money that badly. You simply don't. They need to go and they need to go right away.
Yes, it can be a little unnerving to suddenly be without that income. However, I can tell you from experience, as soon as I got rid of that pain in my butt my business exploded - in a good way that is!
All the negative energy was gone. There was only good time ahead. Never again would I work with someone who could rob me of my passion. Never again would I allow anyone to make my life miserable. Complete and utter bliss.
If you've got clients who you don't enjoy working with then let them go.
If you've got clients who don't comply with their program and they're making you look bad, then let them go.
If you've got clients you love to work with, who do everything you say and get great results then go find more of them. They are out there. I believe that with all my heart.
But this isn't about me. This is about you. This is about what you believe. This is about your passion. This is about living your dream. I can only show you the way. The rest is up to you.
I'm getting this really weird feeling
I'm getting this really weird feeling
Once upon a time I was at a prospect's home trying to sell her personal training.
I was certain it was a slam dunk.
There I was going on and on and on about all the different things I would do to help her.
What the program would be like. Some of the exercises. What her diet would consist of.
It had to have impressed the heck out of her. She was all excited and thrilled to get started.
But she just wanted to sleep on it.
As I was walking to my car I started to get this really weird feeling.
She wasn't going to do it. I knew it in my gut.
Next day my prospect called and gave me the news.
"I want to thank you for all your help yesterday", she said. "It really got me excited and inspired me to do it on my own."
What happened?
I gave away the store for free. That's what happened.
What about you? Ever done that?
If only I'd known then what I know now...
What would happen if...
What would happen if you turned the tide on your prospect?
What would happen if instead of your prospect trying to get you to sing and dance and prove yourself to them, it was the other way around?
Meaning, you asked the prospect to prove themselves to YOU.
Sound crazy?
Far from it.
Isn't it amazing to know that there are actually trainers out there who aren't hoping and praying they say the right thing so the person across the table becomes a client?
Isn't it refreshing to know that prospects are actually fighting for the right to become clients?
Sometime soon a prospect is going to ask you something like, "Why should I choose you as my trainer out of all my options?"
And you're going to respond, "That's a great question and I'm glad you asked it. I'll be happy to tell you all those reasons in a minute. But first. what makes you think you'd make a good client? You see, we create walking, talking billboards. And that means putting in serious effort. Do you think you're up to it?"
Think I'm crazy?
Well, I might be crazy, but the approach sure works. Otherwise, I wouldn't get testimonials like this:
'I'll make this as simple as possible: Using what I learned in Jim Labadie's Ultimate Sales Kit I made $10,000 in 6 hours!!'
Ken Roetman
So if you don't have my Ultimate Sales Kit, wouldn't that make YOU the crazy one?
