Divided they fall

Divided they fall

Pat Rigsby, Nick Berry and I were hosting an open Q and A call for our Trainer's Inner Circle mentorship group on Friday when I got the idea for this one.

A woman came on who had an issue with some trouble makers in her boot camps.

Now it would take me 45 minutes to write about everything we spoke about.

But there's only one real message I wanted to relay to you.

Your boot camps should be like a team. A championship team.

Everyone enrolled should be told from day one - just like a sports team - that they are all in it together.

Everyone needs to know that some people are in decent shape.

Some people are in awful shape.

And there all sorts of people in between.

Everyone needs to know that everyone supports everyone else.

Everyone cheers for everyone else.

Everyone there roots for everyone else.

Bring an US against THEM kind of attitude.

It's your boot camp VS. the world.

Just like a championship team it needs to FEEL like something special. Like they are there for more than just exercise.

They are there for one another. They are there for something bigger than just themselves.

Create a special FEELING about your business and you will be shocked where it leads.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Jim Labadie

PS - Go to the next level. http://SixFigureBootCamps.com shows you how to build something special. It will teach you how to build teams. It will teach you how to build a community.

Donald Trump's advice to you

I was watching the conclusion of the Celebrity Apprentice on Thursday night when I heard something I knew I needed to share with you.

Mr. Trump's son, at the very beginning of the show, reminded his father of some advice he had given him.

"You never get what you don't ask for."

Are you starting to realize just how much simpler it is to build a business than you thought?

Is it easy?

No, there's mucho work to be done.

But is it like trying to figure out if a politician is telling the truth?

Nope. It sure ain't that hard.

If you need help incorporating, ask.

If you need media contacts, ask.

If you need speaking engagements, ask.

If you need a good accountant, ask.

If you need JV partners, ask.

If you need a virtual assistant, ask.

Please, please, please...

...open your mouth and ask.

Are you telling me there's not a soul you know who can't help you?

Listen to The Donald.

Here is my kredit kard

Why do drug dealers sell drugs?

Because, unfortunately, lots of people want them.

Think 'fitness' infomercial marketers have an idea of what works and what doesn't?

Ever see them promoting anything but abs, glutes and fat melting gimmicks?

Let's take a look at what the typical personal training/boot camp prospect thinks about the benefits of exercise.

Lower your blood pressure.

That's nice. Not interested.

Decrease your risk of heart disease.

That's nice. Not interested.

Reduce the risk of dying prematurely.

That's nice. Not interested.

Reduces the risk of developing diabetes.

That's nice. Not interested.

Helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.

That's nice. Not interested.

Helps you look better naked.

Here is my kredit kard.

I've written about this often.

We need to hide the medicine in their apple sauce, so to speak.

Has your marketing been changed to reflect this truth?

The glaring fitness spotlight

The glaring fitness spotlight

I was listening to my friend Pat Rigsby's presentation during http://FitCommExpo.com when I came up with the topic of today's newsletter.

Put your clients and campers in the glaring fitness spotlight.

And by that I mean you should interview your success stories for your e-newsletter.

Imagine your prospect reading the answers to questions like these:

Why they started

What they have learned

What's next for them

SOOO powerful.

Your prospect desperately wants to connect with you on an emotional level.

They want to know there are other men and women who were in the same situation they were.

They want to know they won't be embarrassed by their lack of fitness and excess weight.

They want to know others just like them have done the work and succeeded.

They want to know they will get their moolahs worth.

Interviewing your current clients and campers like a reporter would accomplish all of this.

I have been hearing from more and more and more trainers who are listening to me and my colleagues. The success stories are pouring in.

Please put these tips to use.

They will work.

You will succeed.

The rumors are true

The rumors are true

I'm literally sitting here right now talking face-to-face with my office mate - Ryan Lee.

It's official. The price of http://FitCommExpo.com is going up from 125 to 199 bukcolas at 11:59pm EST tonight, March 26th.

Even at the new price it is the deal of the decade.

But why pay more.

Be smart.

If you haven't already jumped...

...JUMP NOW

Get your keester over to http://FitCommExpo.com pronto.

I personally guarantee it will be worth your time and moolah.

Bargain basement brain surgery

I like to think I'm a pretty sharp guy.

But I ain't no brain surgeon.

I've learned from people who have been there and done that.

Why sit around when I can take action.

When good opportunities arise I grab them by the neck and take them down like a fat guy attacks a Double Whopper.

How many times do I have to harp on it...

There are some simple things you need to be, do, have:

You have to have a website

You need to have the proper moolah magnet mindset

You need to be writing an online newsletter at MINIMUM once per week

You should be focusing on semi-private training or boot camps so you are leveraging your time

You need to delegate tasks others can do so you have more time to GROW your biz

You have to do public speaking

It's not like you have to figure out how to fly a Tonka Truck to Uranus.

I know you're smart.

You read my newsletters. That's how I know.

Now is the time for you to seize the moment.

Now is the time for you to attack opportunity like a Couch Potato mauls a bag of Funions.

Right now, http://FitCommExpo.com offers 100 ridonculous educational sessions for 125 smacks.

I don't work for NASA but my basic math skills tells me that's about a whopping buck twenty five per.

Grab it by the neck.

Take it down.

Kill it.

There's never been a better opportunity to learn all the skills you need than now.

To quote the classic American movie "Cannonball Run":

"If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly."

Love ya more than ever.

Why my jaw is on the floor

Why my jaw is on the floor

I'm freakin' shocked.

I spoke for 50 minutes today on referrals, retention and relationship marketing.

The information I shared - when put to use - is easily worth 100k or more to any fitness business over the course of a couple years.

More if they really work the system. And faster, too.

But I was just one of the speakers.

There was also:

-Mark Verstegen talking about "regeneration"

-Alex Poole teaching you the power of using "levers" for program design

-Steve Reilley showing you how to double your income with semi-private training

-Mike Boyle demonstrating the right way to incorporate interval training into your programs

-Dr.Clay Hyght going into detail about everything you need to know about biomechanics

-Vince Delmonte revealing his 1.8 millyun dollar proven sales system

-Dr. Chris Moore showing you how to solve the weight loss equation

-Jayson Hunter explaining the latest details on supplementation

-Scott Hines revealing the right way to train female clients

And this is just a fraction of the lineup.

Plus, this event gets you CEUs.

I'll tell you this point blank:

If you don't sign up for http://FitCommExpo.com you're nuts.

You'd better have a signed note from your doctor confirming you are legally insane if you don't spend a mere 125 bux for over 100 hours of amazing content.

There's also Alwyn Cosgrove, Dr. John Berardi and a whole lot more - today.

Plus...

...there are also 2 more full days of sessions.

Don't worry if you can't make it. The recordings will be available for 3 full months.

AND...

You can burn the mp3 recordings of the sessions to a CD.

Or put them on your iPod.

It's 125 of the best bux you'll ever spend.

But the price is supposed to go up.

And that is the real reason my jaw is on the floor.

It's ridiculous how cheap it is.

I love ya and that's why I cannot stress enuff how important it is you take advantage of this.

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie

PS - Again, if you're a fitness pro, you'll receive CEUs from the NSCA, ACE, ISSA, NFPT, and NESTA for this one.

http://FitCommExpo.com

PPS - The first day isn't even over yet and the testimonials are already pouring in.

"I have heard so much awesome info today! And it's only 2:26 EST.

I am so excited about the rest to come.

I am so glad we have access to these replays. I will be listening to some over and over. and of course there are the ones I missed because I was listening to another one.

The ideas are already flowing. Thanks.

What my fortune cookie said

Ok, so they aren't exactly chock full o' nutrition, but I ate a Fortune Cookie yesterday.

This is EXACTLY what it said:

"The small steps you take will ultimately bring you a great fortune."

Boy, that's one smart cookie.

We live in an instant gratification society.

Many people try something to get rich overnight. And when it doesn't work they quit.

Yes, like it or not, there are many quitters in this world.

There are many who would like success to be handed to them.

They are unwilling to take the small step after small step after small step that will lead them down the path to the pot of gold.

Now let me be clear: There is a difference between a quitter and someone who fails.

A quitter fails and gives up.

Someone who fails has two choices. They can:

a - quit

b- learn from their failure and press on by taking small step after small step after...

Something else to realize is that after many small steps you start to take HUGE steps.

Things get much easier.

You learn which steps to take.

You learn which steps to skip.

If you listen to my fortune cookie your dreams will come true.

Maybe not tomorrow. Maybe not for a couple years.

But someday, for certain.

Entitled to what

Entitled to what

A person has a dream.

They want to start their own health club.

They risk a great deal.

They make enormous sacrifices.

They deal with attorneys.

They deal with investors.

They deal with every aspect of the business.

They create great systems.

They expand.

They reap the rewards of all their blood, sweat and tears.

They have risked a great deal.

They have been rewarded for it.

A trainer trains clients.

They provide a good service and they are paid for it.

But they do not risk anything.

They do not create further value.

They can be replaced.

But they feel they are entitled to more from these "greedy" business owners.

They were not there to see the risks taken.

They have not put their butts on the line.

They train members.

They are entitled to a paycheck.

If they want more they can risk more.

Nothing is stopping them from doing so.

Yes, this is a simple story.

But that's because the message is simple.

If you want more you need to risk more.

Educate yourself and you'll know which CALCULATED risks to take and which to avoid.

Right now you are earning exactly what you deserve to be earning.

Don't like it?

Well, what are you willing to do to get what you want?

Still love ya.

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie

PS - http://FitCommExpo.com starts tomorrow. And yes, they are even offering CEUs.

There are over 80 presenters.

There are over 100 sessions.

They will be made available in MP3 format so you can download them and listen to them on your iPod while working out.

Unfortunate but true

My colleagues and I harp about this all the time for a reason.

Many of the things we write and say you hear over and over and over and over...

We do this for your own good.

We do this to burn it into your brain.

Broke ass broke trainers bitch, moan and complain.

They are out of the industry in a couple years because they swear your can't make any moolah being a trainer.

Some we're happy to see go. Others, well, the world would be a better place if they had stayed and learned.

There are trainers out there earning six and even seven figures.

They have invested in themselves. They have invested in their business education over and over and over.

They have followed their dreams and made them reality.

Hell, some trainers won't purchase some business info because they don't get CEU's.

SOOO short-sighted.

SOOO silly to sell themselves so short.

Well, now there is NO excuse.

http://fitcommexpo.com starts this Tuesday, March 25th. And yes, they are even offering CEUs.

There are over 80 presenters.

There are over 100 sessions.

They will be made available in MP3 format so you can download them and listen to them on your iPod while working out.

Be smart.

Move in the direction of your dreams.

Learn from the best.

Burn this into your brain.

I want you to look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself:

A Living Reality

What are YOUR dreams.

One of my customers used to live below the poverty line.

Today he's on his way to a mid-six figure income.

One of my customers used to live in his car.

Today he lives in a condo by the beach.

What are YOUR dreams.

Are they getting closer or are they moving further away.

I'll love ya no matter what.

But why not be one of my success stories INSTEAD of one of the trainers who just reads my emails and never takes action.

A Deadly Myth

A Deadly Myth

The other day one of my customers emailed me with a serious concern.

"Hi Jim,

I bought your http://HowToGetMoreClients.com package awhile ago and love it. I've gotten several new clients using your techniques. Right now, I am basically indentured to a local chain club.

On to my real question. Is it possible for a Trainer (me) who has no 4 year degree, but does have the appropriate certifications and a drive to succeed and make money, to have a 6 figure income? Is this possible? Is it common? Would a degree be necessary? Or is this something that's just "nice" but not required?"

-Chris

JL: Chris, glad the http://HowToGetMoreClients.com Kit is serving you well. I think every trainer should have a copy of that product because sales is a skill everyone needs to have in their toolkit.

To answer your question:

There are plenty of millyunaires who don't have a high school degree, never mind college.

Shoot, there are rich people who can't even read.

But they sure can dream BIG. And I'll bet dollars to doughnuts they own at least one business - if not several.

The educational system in the United States creates employees.

And employees help business owners get rich.

I'm NOT suggesting that education isn't important, but it is a Deadly Myth to think getting a 4 year degree is the key to financial freedom.

To think going to college and getting a good paying job is the path to financial security is just dead wrong.

I highly recommend creating boot camp businesses because they allow personal trainers the time to learn about financial freedom.

If you can earn in just one hour what would normally take you three hours of one-on-one training...or four...or five...well, do you have any idea how much you can learn about building wealth during the hours you WOULD HAVE spent training clients one-on-one?

Extra Large Shower

Carol and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas this past weekend. Overall it was a good time.

But I don't plan on going on any more. I just don't dig the fact it takes so long to get on and off the ship.

Personally, I'd rather cruise in one of the gorgeous 100 ft. yachts we saw docked at the marina of the Atlantis Resort.

Anyway, something I noticed was the size of the shower in our Stateroom. It was incredibly tiny. We didn't have any problem fitting in it, but I certainly saw some people onboard who just couldn't have fit. There was no friggin' way some of these passengers could get in the thing, let alone move around.

And just like airplane seats having to be made larger, it's just a matter of time before cruise lines are forced to redo their showers because 90% of their passengers can't fit in them!

Well, that's where we're headed. But we CAN make a difference.

Moolah Making Method #6

The Moolah Making Method series is specifically designed to move you in the direction of your dreams as quickly as possible. Some lessons may seem obvious. Some lessons you may "already know." They are timeless. They are proven. Follow them and succeed.

********

Be smart about success. It's not nearly as hard as the poor, the middle-class, the media or anyone else who doesn't know what the hell they are talking about will lead you to believe.

Begin to surround yourself with successful people. And not only those who are financially successful. Just because you have moolah doesn't mean you are happy.

Seek out those who are truly prosperous.

They are wealthy. They typically have a strong sense of spirituality and believe in giving back. They have great relationships with people. They have rich, full lives.

These people exist. Immerse yourself in their world.

Limit the time you spend with people who are the EXACT opposite.

Do NOT ignore this advice. You are going to be most like the people you associate with most often.

********

Be smart about the increases in your moolah.

The poor and middle-class increase their spending as their income does the same.

Be smart.

Find someone you trust to help you allocate the increase.

Fire your worst client.

If you have a client who is making your life even a little bit miserable, get rid of them.

But don't fill their spot with a new client.

Set aside that time to spend on marketing.

Set a recurring appointment with yourself each week. For one hour per week you will actively recruit speaking engagements so you can offer your services to many people at once.

The Nutrition and Insurace Questions

This may or may not apply to your personal training business. But it's a question I get a lot so I thought it best to fill you in, too.

"Hello Jim,

Love your e-mails! Nutrition obviously goes hand and hand with exercise so why not take advantage of that too. Which brings me to my questions.

What is the deal with personal trainers and nutrition consulting in Florida? What if I want to charge and give classes on how to eat, you know, to help clients break through plateuos and reach thier fitness goals faster? Do I need a license or any other governmental document in Florida? Please point me in the right direction."

Thanks in advance,

Jason Harris

JL: Hi Jason,

Thanks so much for reading them!!

I used to have an in-home personal training business in Tampa and we gave very basic nutritional advice. We did NOT give specific diets. Some things to think about:

1) Make sure your insurance covers you. I recommend going with http://Trainer-Insurance.com They cover pretty much anything you can think of related to personal training.

2) Our http://ProgradeBusiness.com company comes with a 12 week weight management course designed by Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter. You can use the entire course for your own use. And because it is created by an RD it is perfectly safe for you to teach.

Plus, you can earn 30% commissions for each sale of Prograde products you make. But if you're wondering, no, you don't even have to sell Prograde to use the course. We also have a 4 week version of it that you can use called the Nutrition Crash Course.

Good luck!

Hope that one helps you out. Talk to you tomorrow.

"As a strength and conditioning coach who works with athletes both in college and headed there, it is very important to me the products I recommend adhere to all NCAA guidelines.

That's just one of the reasons I love promoting Prograde. Not only do they keep all my athletes in good standing, the products are the highest quality and they are shipped direct to their door.

I feel great recommending because they deliver results and I don't have to lift a finger. What more could a coach ask for?"

An Interesting Bunch

An Interesting Bunch

Personal Trainers are an interesting bunch.

Many want to know how they can motivate their clients to comply with their program.

And they go to great lengths to make sure the client's program achieves the goal they want to achieve.

Most seem to care much more about their clients than themselves.

Not true, you say?

Well, then why do most trainers have no financial plan whatsoever?

Why do most trainers treat their business like a hobby?

Why are most trainers broke?

They'll sweat and slave over the program design of their client.

But they won't set aside a couple hours a week to guarantee their own financial success.

Yes, personal trainers are an interesting bunch.

But I still love 'em.

From A Position Of Strength

I'm often asked by fitness pros how they 'get in' with corporations. How they can create a corporate boot camp, a series of seminars or the like.

Well, there are several ways to do it.

But why not just talk about the easiest way?

Why not just ask someone you know?

Why not talk to some of your clients about the best way to get your foot in the door?

Or if you don't have a client who can help you, why not take the time to find out who can?

Make a list of every person you know and think about where they work.
How much pull do they have there?

Are they the decision makers?

Or can they cut through the red-tape and get you in front of those decision makers right away?

More questions for you:

Why do things the hard way?

Why not use all your connections?

Do you really believe people aren't going to be willing to help you?

Yet more questions:

What happens when you actually land this corporate gig?

Are you afraid of failure?

Or is it success you fear?

Wouldn't it be OK if you started with ONE corporate contract and did such a great job wth them they referred you to other companies?

Don't you think business owners and corporate executives have friends who are business owners and corporate executives?

Don't you think they talk about things such as the new fitness program that has reduced their health care costs and has their employees feeling great?

I got the idea to write this newsletter from one of my customers who wrote me about this very topic:

'Hey Jim,

Just wanted to let you know your
http://www.howtoprofitwithbootcamps.com kit is SO well done!

I listened to all the audio cd's and had every one of my questions answered. Furthermore, the cheat sheet that came with it was extremely convenient and effective.

I recently created a proposal to run fitness boot camps for a local corporation. The company leadership absolutely loved it and they have already committed to the goal of running a '4-6 week on, 1-2 week off' boot camp for their employees for the rest of the year!!!

I already had an 'in' since I train both of the CEO's of the company, and I helped one of them to lose 100 lbs. of body fat in a year to the date of the meeting we had.

But the professionalism and 'attention to details' approach of your Ultimate Boot Camp Start-Up kit without a doubt sealed the deal and gave me the initial idea to move forward with the proposal.

Since it is a pilot I offered a discounted rate of $99/hour, but still look to make up to $500 per week of pure profit from just this camp alone!!!'

PS- Oh, yet another SIX-FIGURE boot camp business testimonial for http://www.howtoprofitwithbootcamps.com

'Jim,

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up on the progress I've made with my camps since purchasing your Ultimate Boot Camp Product.

I started in March '06 with about 10 people attending. It's steadily grown over the last 9 months with this month hitting 56 enrolled!!

It was your product that cemented the idea to start my own camps. I had no idea at the time that some initial guidance from the Ultimate BC CD's and some marketing know how would amount to a such a successful business.

I want to thank you for providing that spark that ignited what this year will be a SIX-FIGURE boot camp business!!'

Personal Training Dentist

Once upon a time I was helping one of my Ultimate Sales Kit customers.

He had met with a prospect and said it was 'like pulling teeth' getting her to talk because she was so guarded.

Well, if you're trying to get someone to tell you the emotional reason they want to hire a trainer it's tough when they have their lips seemingly glued together.

So why does this happen? Why don't prospects want to talk?

I've always found that when this happens it's because they aren't at all serious about doing the work to reach their SUPPOSED goals.

So what can you do about it? The same things I told my customer:

1- Do a better prospecting job and never set the meeting

2- If you are in the middle of one of these meetings simply force the prospect's hand by saying something like, 'I'm really uncomfortable saying this, but from experience I can tell you that when people aren't willing to talk to me they aren't really serious about this. So, please tell me, why are we having this conversation?'

3- Or you can be crazy like me and just get up and leave! Believe me, that get's them talking!

Tiny Marketing Huge Response

Tiny Marketing Huge Response

Years ago, when I lived in Tampa, I was a member of a networking group called CABA. They used to have regular meetings on Wednesdays that I would go to. For the most part, I was the only personal trainer at them.

That was until the day the stereotypical trainers arrived.

I would always go dressed like a professional. And as a trainer living in Tampa that meant Kaki pants and a collared shirt with my company logo.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I came to this one particular meeting and saw two trainers there from a local studio who were half naked. Spandex. Tank tops. Looked like they had just finished working out. The whole nine yards.

Now I had been coming to these events for months. I was very well known in the group. And so it was no surprise that most everyone came up to me at some point during the meeting and started to tell me just how shocked they were to see these "professionals" dressed like this at one of our meetings.

I could go on and on and on about this type of behavior in our profession. But that's not the major point of this email. I know I'm preaching to the choir about professionalism.

But I did want to emphasize to you just how important all the LITTLE things are. In fact, every little thing you do can be considered marketing.

- The way you say hello to people

- The way you carry yourself when you walk

- The way you sit

- The way you eat

- The enthusiasm and passion you either do or do not convey

- The cleanliness of your studio

- The pictures on the walls

- The shine on your shoes

- The small gestures of appreciation you show your clients

- The thank you cards you send

- The extra mile you go

- The time you show up for appointments

None of these things go unnoticed. NONE.

You are a living, breathing piece of marketing.

And by the way, a little extra advice for you today on networking meetings. Each time you go to one you need to have a goal in mind. And personally, I think the smartest move is to go seeking Public Speaking Engagements.

The people you meet at these events are almost always a member of another group. And most groups need speakers. Plus, a lot of them work for companies where you can speak to their employees during lunch.

Spread The Love

It's been a great week here at http://TrainAndGrowRich.com Sure, it was productive AND profitable. But the really cool thing was hearing from my readers and customers in unexpected ways thanking me.

But I'm the one who needs to be thanking them and you. It really is an honor and a privilege to be a part of their life and YOURS.

So this week I'd like to give back in a different way. If your week was as good as mine - or even if it wasn't - here's what I'd like you to do:

1) Pick just one person who means a lot to you. It should be a person who you haven't expressed your feelings toward before, or in quite some time.

2) Either pick up the phone or send them a card and tell them how grateful you are for all their help. Tell them just how much you appreciate them.

3) Enjoy the heck out of your weekend knowing that you just made someone's day.

4) Yes, I am practicing this little exercise myself.

5) No, I'm not kidding. Make sure you do this. You'll be so glad you did.

The Result Of 6 Things

I love this. It practically brought me to tears.

This is the result of all these things:

********

"Hey Jim,

I just want to say that I enjoy your emails and your information.

Thank You and your friend Ryan Lee for all that I have learned and had my eyes opened to. I ordered the Boot Camp kits (http://HowToProfitWithBootCamps.com and http://SixFigureBootCamps.com) and have been listening to cd's while commuting to work. (3 hours each day)!

I have worked in the industry for many years and have been commuting for the last 8 years because of the greater earning potential. I have taught fitness classes for 20years (since 17) and have Personal Trained for 15.

I am the solo Mom of two busy boys that play rep hockey. And we have a puppy.

Why am I telling you all this?

Because for the first time in a long time I can see the light.

I put some fliers together for my first of many Boot Camps. I posted them at the hospital for the staff, and posted them at the dance studio where I am renting space to do the first one (indoors). I live in Ontario Canada. Lots of snow.

I emailed my "list" about 750 people.

I filled my Boot Camp in 10 days. (20 people) I have a waiting list.

I have a list of people interested in the ones that are up and coming. (Haven't planned any of them yet, in the process of booking park space)

I set my goals. I believed. I imagined the calls and emails coming and they still are.

Its a no brainer. I get to do what I love.

Helping more people at once.

Building "teams" that support each other through the transformations

I will make way more $

I will have more time with my kids.

I won't be travelling nearly as much.

Thanks, Jim for the ideas, the inspiration and the occasional candid kick in the butt."

Rapid Relationship Marketing

Rapid Relationship Marketing

One of our Trainer's Inner Circle Mentorship students recently took our advice and sent a birthday card to a former client.

That FORMER client called her up and became an ACTIVE client once again.

One of my most successful http://HowToProfitWithBootCamps.com kit customers, BJ Gaddour, had a terrific relationship with one of his clients who happened to be the CEO of a corporation.

That relationship turned into a BOOMING Corporate Fitness Boot Camp Business for BJ that provides him with a Six Figure Income.

I purchased one of Ryan Lee's products in April of 2003. And over the years our business relationship and friendship has grown.

In April of 2007 we launched http://GetPrograde.com together.

Relationships, relationships, relationships.

If you create, build and maintain incredible relationships you will literally have to TRY to keep your business from growing.

We've got a Business Building System to help you put your Relationship Marketing on auto-pilot.

Stay tuned. Details to follow.

PS - I interviewed BJ for my http://SixFigureBootCamps.com kit. It might just be me, but do you think you could learn a thing or two from a guy who makes 6 figures working 37 weeks a year?

PPS - BJ's original testimonial. He's come a LONG way since that Pilot Program.

"Hey Jim,

Just wanted to let you know your Boot Camp Start-Up kit is SO well done!

Since it is a pilot I offered a discounted rate of $99/hour, but still look to make up to $500 per week of pure profit from just this camp alone!!"

Tokens Of Appreciation

Tokens Of Appreciation

I love hearing from my readers. It really makes my day when someone takes the time to reach out and write me a short note in reply to one of these newsletters. Who doesn't like to feel appreciated? So to all of you who have written me to tell me how much you like these constant emails of mine, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Here's two quick tokens of appreciation from ME to YOU. The other day I wrote about video testimonials. Two things I forgot to mention:

1- Numbers don't lie. So be sure to use specific numbers in testimonials whenever possible.

"I dropped 20 pounds."

"I've gone down three dress sizes."

"I lost four inches from my waist."

2- If you have trouble getting testimonials from clients then write them FOR them. Yes, you need to tell the truth. Yes, you need to show it to them for their approval before using it. But hey, if they won't do it then take the initiative and do it for them. It beats the alternative.

Ok, back to tokens of appreciation for a moment. Businesses are built on relationships. Relationships with:

Clients
Prospects
Strategic Partners
Journalists
Employees
Vendors
And on and on and on...

How often do you show them YOUR appreciation? What are you doing to strengthen your relationships with them? This question is for me as much as it is you. If we want great businesses we need to have great relationships.

More on this soon.

Still love ya.

Jim Labadie

Oh Boy, This Feels Weird

Yesterday I wrote to you about my experience watching Deepak Chopra on PBS. What I didn't tell you is where I came up with the idea for that newsletter.

Yeah, this is the weird part. It's not all that revolutionary, but the idea came to me in the shower. In fact, it's pretty amazing how many ideas I get in the shower.

I'm not sure what it is about water exactly that helps the creative process, but I do know there's something to it. I hear from all sorts of great marketers how water helps them come up with mind-blowing ideas.

So today's message is really very simple: If you need to do some serious creative thinking get your butt in, or near, some water.

And no, I'm not crazy or kidding.

If you need ideas then you need to take a shower, or take a walk to the ocean, or visit a lake, or whatever. If you don't believe me at least have the faith in me to try it.

I promise you you'll be shocked by the results.

So thank you Jim, your course made all the difference. I highly recommend your products to anyone wanting to increase their income and quality of life."

Inside: What Your Prospect Is Thinking

I'm writing this on Saturday at noon. I got some inspiration today so I wrote a bunch of newsletters. And thanks to the magic of http://TrainerShoppingCart.com I'm able to schedule them to go out days, weeks, months or even years later.

Anyway, I was doing two things at once this morning. While watching Deepak Chopra on PBS I was reading over an article from January I had saved. It was about the businesses that are being created to serve the "plus-size" market that now exists. Companies that sell toilet seats that support a 1200 pound person. Stuff like that.

And sometimes that stuff really gets me going. But again, I was watching Deepak so I remained calm and allowed myself to look a the positive side of the story. It reminded me of something that very out-of-shape people like to say:

"I need to get skinny first so I can go to the gym without being embarrassed."

Now I know this is completely illogical to you and me. But that doesn't matter. What does matter is that is exactly what many of YOUR prospective clients and boot campers are thinking. And yes, I know I get a little impatient and I go overboard at times. So let's first thank Deepak for calming my ass down.

Second, let's look at how we can use this information to everyone's benefit. I immediately began to think about video testimonials again. They are extremely powerful and let genuine emotion shine through for your prospects to see. So here are some things to include in them:

1- If they are willing to do it, have your client share their age when taping their video testimonial.

2- Have them say how they felt BEFORE they started the camp. Specifically in regards to what I wrote earlier. If they felt nervous about coming or embarrassed or whatever, be sure they relay to the prospect they have nothing to fear. Your prospect needs to know they are coming to a place where all people, regardless of how much they weight or out-of-shape they are, will be welcomed.

3- Actually, you also need to have your client talk about the work involved. Yes, all people are welcome to come. But only those who are willing to work are invited to stay. If they're looking for a country club they can look elsewhere.

4- This is super powerful. Have the client talk about the things they have tried in the past. Nothing makes a prospect feel better than to know your successful clients and campers have tried all the short-cuts and gimmicks they have. It will help put them at ease. It will put them on common ground.

Ok, that's enough for today. Heading off to have some lunch overlooking the ocean. It's about 80 degrees and sunny here in South Florida. Life is good. Hope yours is too.

The Name Game

The Name Game

Here's a great question many of you might also have:

"Hi Jim,
I purchased your http://howtoprofitwithbootcamps.com kit a little over a month ago and feel there is some great information in there. I am really excited about starting my own camp but have run into an obstacle that is driving me crazy.

I cannot come up with a name for my business. I have come up with about 20 great names and all the websites are already taken. I have ran into a lot of fitness business names out there that I think are terrible but it appears they have a successful business.

So maybe the name is not that important, but only marketing? Anyway, I know you can't pick a name for me, but any advice you have would be great. I really need to get past this first step.

Thank you,

Chad Meisenheimer

Well, Chad, I've got some insights for you, but I don't have a definitive name.

1- Yes, the name of your business is VERY important. But it shouldn't take forever to choose one. At some point you just have to make a decision and move forward.

2- Plenty of great businesses are named after their founder.

Buy a Ford and you know you're getting a car.

Go to McDonald's and you know you're getting fast food.

David Barton Gyms are certainly an example of this in the fitness industry.

3- Be careful when you ask the opinion of friends and family when you ask what they think of possible names.

"I'm thinking of starting a search engine and calling it Google." Back in the day most people would have looked at those guys and said they were nuts to call it that. Same with Amazon and Starbucks.

4- Make sure you do your trademark research as well. Be sure you aren't picking a name that is already in use.

5- Personally, when in doubt, I go with my gut.

6- Make a deadline and stick to it. Do the best you can and get started.

Who loves ya? ;-)

"Hi Jim,

I put out an email to my newsletter list and within two days had sold out all 20 places in my camp!! This was without even doing press releases or any other marketing. That's 1200 POUNDS!

I'm now looking for a sleeve sponsor for the t-shirts I want to give my 20 customers!"

Offensive Fitness Coordinator

The offensive coordinator of my high school football team used to say, "Hey, guy, it ain't a brag if it's true."

Coach McMahon used to tell us that all the time to burn into our brains that we were not only a successful program in the past, but you'd damn well better believe our winning ways were going to continue.

We didn't expect to win games. We expected to kill teams. And for the most part, we did.

Success begets success.

In our Trainer's Inner Circle we are having our mentorship students post all of their recent success stories on the forum. We are asking them to brag about their accomplishments. Some of them are uncomfortable with it. But we're teaching them there is a time and a place for everything, and that forum is the place to boast.

What about you? Do you have a support group of fellow entrepreneurs you can share your success with? Do you have other business owners you speak to who push you to take action and move forward?

Success begets success.

The more you focus on your success...the more you focus on taking action...the more you brag to the appropriate people at the appropriate time about your accomplishments...

Do NOT tell the wrong people. Do NOT tell the people who will try and drag you down or "bring you back to reality." Screw those people. Surround yourself with the right people. Let them brag to you about THEIR successes. Help move THEM forward. PUSH one another.

It ain't a brag if it's true.

PS- I'm more than happy to do some braggin'

"Jim, I would be honored if you used my words for your site. Your program has helped me tremendously. To give you an idea, when I arrived at the 57th St. New York Health and Racquet Club the personal training department had revenues around $28,000 per month. I was able to get that number to the $40,000 range by myself. But with your program I was able to get our personal training revenues into the $60,000 range and have kept it there for two months!

Even more incredible was our December. We just did $89,000 for the month! We were not running any specials or sales as I do not believe in discounts. I simply put into use your system and watched it work like magic!

Thank you so much!"

"A lot of people assume that my professional honors make it easier for me to charge higher fees than other trainers.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

I've worked in sales most of my adult life. I've gone through Dale Carnegie Sales Training (twice), read literally dozens of books, listened to weeks worth of cassettes, and even studied NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), but Jim teaches unique, practical and powerfully effective techniques that I had never heard before.

I've just started, but I am supremely confident that the skills Jim taught me in the "Ultimate Sales Kit" will finally allow me to charge rates commensurate with my experience, expertise and honors - without pain on my part asking for the money nor pain on the client's part paying the money.

Jim helps you earn what you're truly worth."
